Proof Gallery is very pleased to present Time on View, a collection of sculptural artifacts by Boston artist Alice Vogler.  Time on View will also include weekly performances on Wednesday nights.  The works that comprise Time on View are sculptures used in or created by past performances.  Each work encapsulates that specific history but collected and recontextualized they provide insight into of the artist’s main ongoing concerns: the body and issues of control surrounding it; systems of categorization and classification; clinicality.  
Disrupting Time on View as a straightforward survey is the viewer’s engagement with the objects which transform them yet again.  Vogler is interested in the possibility of remembered action and imagined action contained within the same object.
Not counterpoint to her performances, by nature fugitive, Vogler poses these works as an extension of that practice.  Their meaning is mutable according to the passage of time and audience - a moment in time, once passed fixed only as memory.

Alice Vogler is a Boston-based artist and educator.  She received her MFA from Tufts University and the Boston Museum School and her BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art.  She was a co-curator and founder of Meme Gallery.  She has performed and exhibited nationally and internationally including participation in Isea2011 in Turkey, Lumen Festival!! in Staten Island and Da’ Burn Gallery in Mexico.
